Geo-data upload

There are two locations from where you can upload your farm geo-data;
(i) In the partner section for a specific partner
(ii) For your own company
Both sections follow the same data import process. The only difference is that in the Partner Section, the connected partner associated with the imported dataset is automatically pre-selected.

Geo-data upload in the partner section
In this section, you can either invite partners to the platform to upload their own data or upload data on their behalf.
To upload in the partner section, you must first select the relevant partner from the partner library. After selecting the partner, a menu with subcategories will open on the left. Click on “Origin data import”. You now have the option of entering the data manually or uploading one or more files. This article explains the file upload option.

When uploading a dataset, you first have to set the right properties. You can see the properties in the screenshot. Below you will find some explanations.
Dataset properties
- Dataset title: You can name the dataset to whatever you want, but naming based on the region could be helpful. You cannot change the title of the data set later.
- Focus crop (raw material): Cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, rubber, soya and wood
- Country of origin
- Owner of the dataset
To add geo-data to the dataset, you can either:
Add one file with multiple plots. Select "Multiple plots per file".
Add one or multiple files with one plot per file. Select "One plot per file".
Column mapping
The next step is to match the columns of the uploaded dataset with the template columns of our platform, so that we can import the data into our structure. Farm ID and coordinates are the only required fields.

All farm data points we support in the platform can be selected as a template column to match the data for the uploaded column from the imported file/files. We currently support the following data points:
Farm ID (required)
Farm coordinates (required)
Farm size: If no size is specified, we automatically set it to 4ha. This can be adjusted manually later.
Farm name
Farm owner - First name
Farm owner - Last name
Farm owner - Full name
Origin cluster ID
Number of farmers
Additional crops (Selected from raw material)
Land ownership (Selected from pre-defined list of land ownership types)
More supported data points will be added soon.
Geo-data validation
The next step is to validate the data format to make sure all data is readable and can be imported to the platform.
If there are formatting errors in your data, these are summarized above the dataset. If you hover over the cells marked in red, the corresponding error message will be displayed. The following validation errors can occur:
Farm ID is missing
Latitude is missing
Longitude is missing
Coordinates are not within the valid ranges
Coordinates cannot be converted to Decimal Degrees
Not enough data to make a polygon (at least 4 coordinates required per farm ID)
Polygon is open (first and last coordinates need to be the same to close a polygon)
Invalid geometry
Farm size must be a float or integer
Farm belongs to multiple site clusters
Invalid additional crops
Invalid land ownership
Number of farmers must be an integer

Download file with highlighted issues
In order to correct the validation errors, it may be helpful to download the file with the issues highlighted to send back to the partner who shared the geo-data with you. To do so, click on "Download file with highlighted issues" above the dataset.
This allows you to download a CSV file where the errors are listed in an additional column for each row. You can share this file with your suppliers to collaboratively correct and improve the geo-data. After making the necessary corrections on your device, you need to re-upload the dataset and follow the steps outlined above again.
Import settings
In the top right, there is a button called "Import settings". When clicking on this button, you can edit the dataset fields. The data points that you selected in the column mapping step are automatically selected as included data points in the import settings.
You can also select what your default options should be for updating and clustering farm data.

Confirm import settings
Please correct all errors and click on “Save & verify“. Until you have clicked Save & verify, no farm data is actually imported to our database.
Finally, when you click on "save & verify" in the top right corner and all formatting errors have been solved, you have to confirm your import settings and the data is transferred to our site logic.
Geo-data verification
Once the geo-data has been validated and saved, it is successfully imported as "Sites" to the platform. The next step is data verification. If you plan to use your uploaded geo-data in an EUDR due diligence process, ensure that all data is verified and that farm plots larger than 4 hectares are represented as polygons.
The verification process gives warnings for different issues:
EUDR-specific: A plot is a single-point coordinate (not a polygon) and have a size attribute larger than 4 hectares.
Plot geometries overlap, indicating potential duplication or intersections.
One or more plot geometries are excessively distant from each other (exceeding 10,000 km).
Plot geometries are partially or completely not inside the given country of the imported dataset (All imported farm plots of a dataset need to be in the same specified country).
Plot geometries intersect with a lake.
Plot geometries are partially or completely located outside of land areas (e.g. in the ocean).

You can view and edit all farm data and their cultivation areas here to resolve warnings, either from the list view or from the map view. You can also still save the dataset with warnings and correct them later.
Once saved, the dataset is listed in the overall list view for all imports. You can now access the imported farms and plots in the site library and partner library. Sites and clusters can now be used everywhere in the platform.

The yellow-highlighted warnings displayed in the screenshot are unresolved verification issues. These should be resolved before submitting the data for an EUDR deforestation analysis. For non-EUDR purposes, the warnings do not necessarily need to be resolved.
Geo-data upload for your own company
This section allows you to upload geo-data directly linked to your own company. It works the same way as uploading geo-data in the partner section.
